IoT Soil Moisture System Deploys – Konidis Vineyard – McLaren Vale.
The Active Communications IoT Soil Moisture System consists of:
The Active Communications IoT Soil Moisture system consists of nodes, each of which has three sensors. The sensors set at different depths to measure and monitor the effectiveness of irrigation or rainfall across the root stratum. Sensors are set at .5 metre, .75 metre and 1 metre depths.
The nodes are spaced in line progressively following the fall of the land.
At the head end a LoRaWAN gateway connects the system to the “Things Network” via an NBN Fixed Wireless connection.
The system provides information to growers and winemakers via a secure website.
Using this information a grower can relate what he sees practically in his vines, knows about his local climate and foresees in the projected weather, to make informed decisions on the application of irrigation.
The anticipated results for the grower are higher quality grapes, yielding a better price while managing water costs to achieve the result.
McLaren Vale is a wine region in South Australia, it is internationally renowned for the wines it produces and included within the Great Wine Capitals of the World.
Active Communications System can be used in many agricultural applications where water sensitivity and critical water management need to be applied.
