IoT Communications

IoT Communications

Today achieving a profitable result from Agriculture is vital to the ongoing viability of the Sector. Utilising available technology including the Internet of Things and IoT Communications is a step closer to increasing profitability for Australian producers. It is important to remember that globalisation means that while Australian producers have access to a wider market the same is true for foreign providers.

To compete Australian producers must produce a higher quality product and outside the variables of climate which Australia is famous for, do it for the least cost. In taking advantage of the available technology including the Internet of Things and IoT Communications, monitoring costs and production flows becomes an effective process.

System Design

Our IoT Communications systems are designed to provide cost effective data on soil moisture for growers. To be able to build a map of the crop and graphically display the soil moisture across the crop. Giving growers the ability to manage watering to suit climate and forecast.

Our tracking option for livestock is focussed on very large properties where mustering costs can be high, the system allows for tracking stock using a collar equipped with a low cost satellite transceiver. Use of the system can result in dramatic reductions in the mustering cost by eliminating the need to locate stock before mustering.

Active Communications has begun the development of systems utilising IoT Communications to aid the sector achieve success.

  • Crops
  • Soil Moisture

To be competitive, growers and producers must embrace technology to help them manage variables such as water or cost effectively locate stock on large properties.

Viticulture

The production of premium grapes for winemaking requires intensive monitoring of climatic conditions as well as the application of human interventions that bring forward the best possible fruit, at the ultimate time. Often growers need to manage the final phases of ripening, so as to meet the requirements of the winemaker in terms of delivery of premium of fruit at a time when the winemaking process requires the delivery.
